Reverend Jenkins Mission Scenario Rules

Set-Up

- Environment: Savannah, Riverside.

- Friendly territory.

- Object Card Deck: Arab Baggage & Expedition Supplies (gunboat).

- Dangerous terrain: MWWBKs Advanced Rule (pg. 38).

- For general set-up see WI (270, p. 104). Scenario is a variation of A Sigh of Relief

- Reverend Jenkins is a special character. He is placed in the mission building.

- Sefu is an independent Zanzibari leader. Roll for leadership and traits at the beginning of the game.

- Mwanga is a special character with the Witch Doctor advanced rule. He must be attached to a tribal unit.

Special Rules

An expedition unit is activated first each turn.

- Jenkins remains stationary until he sees/hears the slavers. Line of sight may be drawn from any window. Once Jenkins is aware of the slavers he may be activated to either Stand To or Move 6” per turn. He cannot move At the Double, Attack or Shoot

- Jenkins is attached to the first expedition unit he moves into contact with.

- The mission building is an obstacle for movement and has 15 structure points (see MWWBKs pg. 47). Hard cover, counts as defended structure. Mission may be directly attacked or set on fire. Can be occupied by a single unit.

- If Mwanga killed, previously drawn Witchcraft! Event Card can be immediately discarded. If Mwanga killed in melee, Wilkinson may also draw one card from Sacred Bones Object Deck.

- Wilkinson can be resupplied by the gunboat if he holds the jetty at the end of the game.

- To hold the jetty a player must have at least one unpinned unit on the jetty with no unpinned enemy units on the jetty.

- Slavers may voluntarily withdraw from the battle if mission is destroyed and Jenkins killed.

- If Jenkins killed, all expedition units immediately suffer -1 penalty to Discipline until the end of the next Campaign Turn.

- Slavers will stop their attack on the mission and withdraw from the battlefield once five combat units drop below half strength. The slavers will withdraw even if mission building still intact and/or Jenkins remains alive.  A destroyed combat unit counts as two units for the purpose of this calculation.

Ending the Scenario

- Play continues until only one field force remains on the table or when any of the standard conditions in MWWBKs Ending the Game apply (pg. 26).

After the Battle

- If Wilkinson holds the jetty at end of game, Wilkinson can resupply expedition from the gunboat (up to encumbrance limit of available baggage):

1 x Tents
1 x Medicine Chest
6 x Army Rations
2 x Barrel of Rum
4 x Animal Forage
6 x Cases of Ammunition
1 x Baggage Unit (porters or film crew)

- If Film Crew are onboard the gunboat they replace the boat’s transported unit of baggage.

- If Jenkins survives the scenario, he will accompany the expedition for the rest of the campaign. Wilkinson should take Reverend Jenkins card.

- If expedition is accompanied by Miss Jenkins discard her card to gain 3 Campaign Points. Miss Jenkins remains at the mission regardless of whether her father is alive or the building destroyed. Remove her figure from the expedition.

- If Slavers score more VP than Wilkinson they gain enough intelligence to start planning an ambush on the expedition. Shuffle Ambush! scenario + 1 Extra Event Card into Campaign Deck (placing Arab Tembe scenario card on top as normal). Slavers may deploy extra 2 points in Ambush! scenario (4 if leader survived). If Ambush! Scenario not available, still shuffle 1 Extra Event Card into Campaign Deck.

- If slavers score more VP than Wilkinson, local tribes become suspicious of the expedition and territory changes to hostile.

Optional Rules

- The Lost World. Before the game starts roll a d6. Prof. Challenger present on a roll of 5+. Place figure with Reverend Jenkins in mission building and shuffle Sacred Bones scenario card into Campaign Deck. When escaping the mission building, Prof. Challenger moves with Reverend Jenkins and both figures are attached to the first expedition unit they move into contact with.

- Kong! At the end of the game if expedition chose not to escort Miss. Jenkins roll 1d6. On a roll of 1-2 Wilkinson is told that she arrived on a launch taking supplies to the trading station but disappeared the previous night. Jenkins believes she was taken by the slavers. Shuffle Bride of Kong scenario card into Campaign Deck.
